Introduction to Watercolor

Discover the beauty and versatility of watercolor in this 8-week introductory course designed to build confidence through hands-on practice. Students will become familiar with essential materials and gradually explore the fundamental techniques that make watercolor such an expressive medium.

Beginning with brushes, paper, paints and color mixing, the course progresses through washes, glazing, wet-in-wet, negative painting, warm and cool shadows, masking, lifting and texture techniques. Students will put these skills into practice while painting subjects such as flowers, trees, skies, clouds, rocks and water.

Each lesson combines demonstrations, simple exercises and practical painting experience, allowing students to understand how water and pigment interact while developing greater brush control and confidence.
