The Fan Brush features bristles spread into a distinctive semicircular fan shape, making it ideal for blending, softening edges and creating natural-looking textures. Winsor & Newton specifically recommends fan brushes for blending, softening edges and texture work.

Its unique shape is excellent for creating foliage, grasses, trees, clouds, fur and other organic textures, as well as feathering colours and creating subtle transitions.

Available in different sizes and filament types, fan brushes are particularly useful with acrylic and oil paints, while suitable versions can also be used for watercolour and other fluid media.
